After it opens
What the first ten minutes look like
There is no setup wizard, no workspace to configure, and nothing to connect. The trial clock starts the first time the app runs and does not require you to identify yourself.

First-run notes
If your OS warns you about the installer
Both builds are ordinary desktop applications distributed outside the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store, so the operating system asks once before it will run them.
macOS
Open the .dmg and drag EDI Studio to Applications. If macOS says the app cannot be verified, right-click the app icon and choose Open — that dialog offers an Open button the double-click one does not. You only do this once.
Windows
SmartScreen may show a blue “Windows protected your PC” panel on a newly published version. Choose More info, then Run anyway. The prompt fades as the installer accumulates download reputation.
